About the Client
Joel and Victoria hired me to perform as their Wedding DJ and Bilingual Master of Ceremonies. The bride and groom were in their mid-20s and with a Mexican background but were raised here in Texas. They had 200 of their closest friends and family with them celebrating their special day. They both spoke and understood Spanish and English pretty well. Most of their family was bilingual as well.
Before the guests arrived, the father of the groom came up to me and introduced himself. Very nice gentleman. He told me about his family upbringing and places in Mexico he recently visited. Shared that the family was from Guerrero.
About the Venue
The venue for the evening was the Springs Venue in Brookshire Texas, which is just west of Katy Texas. This is a very nice wedding venue. There are two separate venues. They selected the Tuscany, which is the first one on the right side as you drive into the property.
Introduction to the Couple and Wedding Vision
The vision for the wedding and the reason they booked Elegante Entertainment were:
- They wanted a bilingual DJ
- They wanted their guests to dance a lot
- They wanted to do their first dance on a Cloud
- They wanted to do the Crazy Hour Props with Glow sticks, Glasses, and fun Hats.
The Role of Music in Their Wedding
As stated above, their family was mostly of Mexican background, however, they grew up here in Texas, so there were requests for Mexican Music, Country Music, and Some Houston Rap.

Challenges Faced and Solutions Implemented
The challenge about this wedding reception is that the bride and groom left all the planning to me as their professional DJ. They had a very basic timeline that the bride had created.
The timeline was as follows:
- 5:30 PM Guest Arrival
- 6:00 PM Dinner with Mariachi Origen y Tradicion
- 7:30 PM Bride and Groom’s First Dance
- 7:35 PM Bride and Groom Thank the Guests
- 7:40 PM La Vibora De La Mar (Once for the Women and Once for the Men)
- 7:50 PM Bouquet Toss
- 8:00 PM Open Dancing
- 11:50 PM Sparkler Sendoff
The Ceremony:
Their ceremony was held at their Catholic Church which was about a 30-minute drive away. Ceremony Started at 1 pm.
The Reception: Keeping the Energy High
The Reception started with Dinner and Live Music for the Mariachi. They played the traditional Mexican Mariachi songs for one hour, from 6 pm to 7 pm. Origen y Tradicion is one of the best Mariachis in the Houston Area that I’ve had the pleasure of getting to work with. They always dress great and play extremely well.

- La Hora Loca Props: passing out the party props at night that sparked the dancing.
- During the bouquet toss, the bouquet got stuck on a cross beam on the ceiling.

Bilingual DJ Services: Bridging Cultures Through Music
Doing announcements in Spanish and English is something that I’ve done since around 1999 and it’s something that I love to do. It’s almost second nature to me to say something in one language and then repeat it in another. It’s important to me and to the bride and groom that everyone there feels connected to what’s going on.
The music brings them out to the dance floor. On this particular night, the English music was about 10-20% of the night by my rough estimate. I played the line dances, the Houston Rap that the groom requested, and a few country songs.
Client Feedback and Final Outcome
At the end of the night, the groom came up to me and thanked me, the father of the bride also said he loved the music and that if I’m ever in Dallas to let him know. I will be going to Dallas soon for an upcoming wedding reception.
As they were leaving the room for their sendoff, the groom made it a point to say goodbye one more time. This always puts a smile in my heart, when the bride and groom are grateful.

Conclusion and Takeaways
This was a very fun event. The bride and groom got to dance a lot, the father of the groom got his music requests in and I has happy to play them. The guests came up and requested music to dance to and all in all, it was a fun party where people were dancing constantly.
I would love more events like this, events where there’s a sense of family and LOVE.
