The Top Ten Questions We Get Asked as DJs

In the last few months, we have been inundated with emails, inquiries, calls, and appointments… One thing that I’ve noticed is that brides, or clients in general, ask some of the hardest questions to answer… Not because they are hard on us, actually they are easy to answer because every bride asks the same questions over and over… but because the answers are extremely technical… One question really stands out… “What type of equipment do you use?”

Well if I were to say, Denon, Pioneer, HP, QSC PLX Series, Electrovoice Speakers…. Then I’m sure I would get a look like… ??? HUH? I think nowadays there is such a vast amount of DJ gear, Professional and Non-Professional, that it’s hard for us as DJs to even know the difference, let alone brides. Even the Non-Professional equipment is very reliable and really good that some DJs use non-pro equipment and do a great job djing.

I try to focus the attention not on equipment, but on quality of service, reputation, and my client receiving the exact service that they are hiring me to do..

That can be from simple, fun and enjoyable… To Extravagant, Elegante, and Memorable… Each client has an outlook of what their event is, so it’s my job to get that out of them, find out the best way to do it, and then with my talents (not my equipment) set out to do it the best that I know how to do…

Below is a short video on the top 10 Questions I get asked as a DJ.

TheKnot.com Reviews on their Message Boards… Do your Research before booking Your Wedding DJ!!!!

So I booked with a client last night at Starbucks, they said the only reason they met with me was because of the Great Raves and Reviews on the website, TheKnot.com’s  message boards section, so I thought I would go back and try to see if I could find the reviews and recommendations… and I did.. I was surprised to see so many good recommendations… Not because I don’t think i do a good job, but because I just didn’t expected… Talk about feeling great about all the hard work, all the attention to detail, following through with what you promise, and doing your absolute best to keep your customer happy… I mean, we only get one try to get it right, so those who spend hours, days, and sometimes weeks before the event preparing should know what I’m talking about…

On the other hand, I also saw what can happen if you don’t keep your word, set up appointments with clients and don’t show up, and just overall, do a bad job at customer service… My jaw dropped… Based on Many, many, many reviews, I cannot believe people would stand up other people and give them the runaround!!! I’m still in shock and disbelief!!!!

Unique Wedding Monogram / Gobo Designs

DSC_0663

Personalization of a wedding can take form in various forms. One of the most popular forms to personalize a wedding reception is to add your signature to it. Well, not necessarily a signature but a you could start with the initials of the Bride and the Groom along with the initial of the Groom’s Last name. Take this creation and project it into a wall (or the dance floor for a beautiful, eye catching decoration on the wall or the dance floor.

The overall design of the Monogram should be a direct reflection of the bride and groom’s style. Some are more traditional than other, others like their monogram to be really elegant, and others want it to be as wild as their love for each other.

This Saturday, November 13th, I have the privilege of working with the later… A couple who’s personalities are completely opposites but their love for each other is as wild as it gets. Taking that into consideration, I designed 3 sets of monograms for their Gobo creation. I started conservatively and created 5 ‘traditional’ monograms and one that was a little ‘creative.’ Even though I knew it was not something they would go with, I wanted to give them the chance to look at some of the traditional ones, with their names.

As I suspected, they opted for the more ‘creative’ one, the bottom right and also showed interest in the Bottom Left one.

So the second set of Monograms that I created looked a little bit more wild and unique. They Loved these…

On this set, they loved a combination of things… The Crazy G on the second one on the right and the bottom left… So I gave them one more set of options to chose from. This set I concentrated on the second one to the right, and gave them a few different looks.

So needless to say they loved these!

So which one did they choose? Well, I will post pictures after the wedding…
