On the biggest day of their lives, several newlyweds worried about having music for their wedding dance after the DJ they booked and paid for months in advance didn’t show up.
Ruth Zechmann was pissed off by pictures of her wedding dance.
“We talked about the DJ – I can almost guarantee you if you see the look on my face,” she said.
The bride had paid DJ Jeremy Fields a year earlier.
“He called an hour before the wedding and said he couldn’t make it because of a family emergency. Then he found out that he had planned another wedding on the same day as me,” said Zechman.
The same DJ didn’t call Kendra Beller on her wedding day.
“My bridal party and family had to do all the work to find out,” said Beller, whose reception was postponed 90 minutes to find a last-minute sub.
Most newlyweds had to improvise. A couple had relatives go home, get speakers, and stream Spotify.
Months before the wedding, the DJ provided contracts and made deposits: $ 400 from Zechmann; $ 200 from Beller; and the Vuksons paid him $ 550.
“We paid him to be a DJ and he just never showed up,” said Cole Vukson.
The bride and groom do not expect any refunds.
“Maybe a ‘sorry’ would be good,” said Vuckson. Sounds silly, but you ruined my day. The least you can do is say ‘Sorry’ and get involved. ”
A Facebook group has more than a dozen couples endorsed by All Play Entertainment and Jeremy Fields.
Our calls, texts and emails to the DJ were not answered. A couple who went to a small claims court tried to serve him Thursday, but said Jeremy Fields did not show up for another Grand Island trial.
