The Top Ten Questions We Get Asked as DJs

In the last few months, we have been inundated with emails, inquiries, calls, and appointments… One thing that I’ve noticed is that brides, or clients in general, ask some of the hardest questions to answer… Not because they are hard on us, actually they are easy to answer because every bride asks the same questions over and over… but because the answers are extremely technical… One question really stands out… “What type of equipment do you use?”

Well if I were to say, Denon, Pioneer, HP, QSC PLX Series, Electrovoice Speakers…. Then I’m sure I would get a look like… ??? HUH? I think nowadays there is such a vast amount of DJ gear, Professional and Non-Professional, that it’s hard for us as DJs to even know the difference, let alone brides. Even the Non-Professional equipment is very reliable and really good that some DJs use non-pro equipment and do a great job djing.

I try to focus the attention not on equipment, but on quality of service, reputation, and my client receiving the exact service that they are hiring me to do..

That can be from simple, fun and enjoyable… To Extravagant, Elegante, and Memorable… Each client has an outlook of what their event is, so it’s my job to get that out of them, find out the best way to do it, and then with my talents (not my equipment) set out to do it the best that I know how to do…

Below is a short video on the top 10 Questions I get asked as a DJ.

Hi, I’m DJ Francisco Perez, a bilingual DJ and MC with over 25 years of experience. Fluent in both Spanish and English, I bring extensive knowledge across all music genres, from Spanish to English hits. As one bride noted, “He is bilingual and able to make perfect announcements in Spanish and English,” reflecting my ability to cater to diverse audiences. My passion for dancing and having a good time ensures that every party I handle is filled with energy and joy. Another bride praised me, saying, “Nice and friendly, but loves to take control of the event,” highlighting my balance of approachability and professionalism.

My journey into DJing began at the age of 17 when our church youth group needed to raise funds for activities. Driven by a love for music and dance, I eagerly volunteered to provide music for a fundraiser event. This commitment led me to invest in CDs and equipment, leveraging my existing knowledge of great music to enhance the event. Over the years, my dedication to the craft has solidified my reputation in Houston as a skilled and enthusiastic DJ.

Choosing DJ Francisco for your event means choosing a passionate professional dedicated to making people dance. I have invested in my education as a Master of Ceremonies through classes and workshops, ensuring that I can deliver exactly what my clients envision for their events. With over 200 reviews, emails, and letters of gratitude from satisfied clients, my goal is to bring a smile to your face on your special day by creating a memorable and enjoyable experience.

  2. I find it funny that people ask if the DJ will take requests also. You would think that since you’re hiring them they will play the music that you’re hiring them for lol.

Maybe people think that they DJ will only play his/her favorite music and simply ignore what everybody wants to hear. Wouldn’t that be the day? :)

  4. I like how you explain to the client more about service, reputation and getting the service they have hired you for.
There are tons of electronic brands out there and I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference between them.
