Every day gets better
Tymesha and H’s love story begins on the Prairie View A&M University campus. “This man captured my heart over a decade ago one afternoon on the way to the technology building,” she recalls. “H stopped me to compliment me and he was handsome and with a large group of people so I was totally embarrassed.” After their first uncomfortable greeting, every encounter they shared afterwards was just a little friendlier. They were both engineering majors and shared several classes. During her network theory class one afternoon, H reached out to TyMesha and asked her to borrow her textbook. From then on they were college friends. Then came cozy Sunday lunches. “After reciting poetry until 5:00 in the morning. I knew he was special and I really wanted to get to know him, ”she recalls. “Shortly thereafter, we made a mutual commitment and our story continues to build new chapters today.”
The third time a spell
“I made up my mind and bought the ring,” explains H. the moment he knew that TyMesha would be his wife. “I just needed time to find the perfect time to answer the question.” His sister-in-law Sheena knew of his intentions, so he gave her a few ideas. The couple had planned to head to Dallas for a Texans game, and H. was able to land prime club seats on the 50-yard line. But when he went to the jeweler to collect the ring before the trip, it was closed for a Jewish holiday. Devastated, he had to come up with a new plan. The following Monday morning he went to the jewelry store and then thought he could take Etta to dinner and ask the question there. That day, when he realized he had left his phone in the SUV, he went to TyMesha to retrieve it. “It was just before noon so I asked her if I would have her take her out for lunch as I was headed that way, but she refused,” he recalls. “When I got to the security gate, I saw Etta walk out of the building. I said to myself forget it, i’m doing it right now! I fell on one knee and poured out my heart and asked her to marry me. “After happily accepting, she changed her mind about this invitation to lunch. “Have I said yes to the man who shakes my world and allows me to be the woman I am? Of course I have! “She adds.” I’m marrying my best friend! “
