Elegant Quinceanera Uplighting left Houston Father Speechless

uplighting monogram design houston

Here’s why…

On September 5th, 2009 I provided my services at a Quinceanera in the beautiful and Elegant Nassau Bay Hilton. The room by itself is very elegant and has a great view of the water. So the place was set, all I had to do is come in with my up lighting and place it strategically around the room.

The family was very close and very positive, just by meeting them you could get a sense of how great their family values were.  That’s important because you, as a wedding vendor, rarely see the whole family at the initial and every other meeting that you have with the clients…

Well on my previous post I provided pictures of the uplighting at the Nassau Bay Hilton for the Quinceanera, and although the pictures do a good job of providing a view of the elegance that these lights add to any event, I think video is the best way to portray that elegance and to get a great essence of the feeling that you get from attending an event where up lighting is provided.

So here is the reason the Quinceanera’s Father was speechless at the end of the event…

Why does my DJ need Liability Insurance?

DJ in Houston with Liability Insurance

Why does my DJ need Liability Insurance? That’s a question that you, as the bride, groom or person looking for a DJ need to cover before you begin your search for your DJ. The simple answer is…

DJ Liability Insurance covers a DJ for any damages a member of the public may be awarded as a consequence of injury or damage to them or their belongings caused by the DJ or his/her equipment. It also covers legal costs & other expenses to do with defending any claim.

In short, the liability insurance covers the DJ in case of an accident caused by his equipment. With so much equipment there is a chance that someone will trip and fall and seriously get injured. Nowadays, you don’t know if that person is going to turn around and sue you, the person that invited him to your party. Without the DJ’s liability insurance, there is a chance you will have to pay for those costs.

FHP Entertainment is one of the few DJ companies in Houston that carries liability insurance. Not very many venues in Houston require for the DJ to carry liability insurance. One that does is Ashton Gardens, in North Houston. They will not allow any vendors to go and do business there without liability insurance. If your DJ or any other wedding vendor not insured and does not get a third party certificate for Ashton Gardens, they will not allow them in there. We are fully covered to be able to perform and entertain there.

So, don’t only ask your vendor if they have Insurance, ask to see the insurance certificate and make sure it’s valid and not expired!

The Top Venues and Reception Halls in Houston… I have visited

582

I’ve compiled a list of all the reception halls, or venues, that I have entertained (DJ’d) at in the Last 2 years. Some of these reception halls are hard to find online and you will have a hard time finding them if you do a search on google. It has taken me longer to find their information online than it has to make the list.

Quinceanera in Houston: Veronica Perez (My Sister)

361

Saturday February 9th, 2008, was my sister, Veronica’s, Quinceanera, or sweet XV (15). Boy do they grow up quick !!! I have 2 of my own so I have to start preparing… now… YIKES!!

What I will try to do here is summarize my experience from both sides, the side of the coin: the side of the consumer and the side of the vendor. I will use my magical insight into the world of this service oriented industry so you can form some insight of your own to use during your own Quinceanera, or wedding, planning journey.

I actually had little to nothing to do with the whole planning process. I know what you’re thinking, “Oh, great and how are we supposed to learn from you?” Let me tell you how…

I was there, the day of the event, so most of this will cover that day and maybe I will go into detail of some of the unexpected things that you may run into from your vendors.

Houston Bridal Extravaganza Show – January 2008

The 2008 Houston Bridal Extravaganza Show (H.B.E.) has come and gone. It was held January 5th and 6th of 2008.

Right after the busy December Schedule us vendors are blessed with a bliss of brides to bee. There is an estimated 4,000 registered brides that walk the George R. Brown Convention Center every January and this year was no different.

The layout this year was different and it was something new that the organizers of the H.B.E. show tried. Bigger lanes for the brides and their entourage to walk in so they would not feel to crowded. Which was good for them. I saw it as a two edged sword, brides stopped less frequently at my booth, maybe for that same reason. I fell like I talked to less people this year than in previous years. I guess once the brides picked up speed there was little that was going to stop them.

I did notice that if a brides is still looking for a DJ, or any other vendor, they are more than happy to stop and talk to you; or to take your literature for further reading at a later time.

This year I decided to raffle off an 80 gb Ipod Classic Black. That was my motivating idea to try to get more brides to stop at my booth at 744. And like all giveaways, it works for the purpose intended: get bridal leads.

The drawing will be held January 21st and the winner will be emailed all the information on how they can pick up their prize. There is still time to register, but that web page is only found by those who visited my booth (744) and picked up our pricing and information. The web page was printed on the back of a postcard and cannot be accessed any other way. Maybe later I will post the information on this blog for others to register… who knows…

Overall, this was a great show for me, as a DJ, I got enough leads to keep me busy this year.

I hope you got the chance to pick up an FHP Entertainment postcard with the 80gb Ipod Video Registration Information!
