Weddings are about Love… As wedding professionals it is our responsibility to help our clients celebrate the love they have for each other and the commitment that they are about to partake on…
A quick search on Google.com for the word Love comes up with lots of different websites and suggested search terms such as: love poems, love quotes, making love, love stories, etc…
Is it a feeling? Is it a commitment? Is it supposed to last forever???
I believe everyone who has experienced love, has their own answer to these questions.
Wikipedia on Love:
Love is any of a number of emotions and experiences related to a sense of strong affection. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure (“I loved that meal”) to intense interpersonal attraction (“I love my girlfriend”). This diversity of meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love
One thing is for sure, Love is an deep uncontrollable emotion.
In the context that will explore it during this post is the love you have for a girlfriend, wife, or fiance and how it relates to the Wedding Industry.
TV does a terrible job at portraying weddings as Love events. They portray weddings as money sucking, bad attitude getting, stressful, bad service oriented, bridezilla, negative events. But then again, they need drama to attract viewers.
And the term Bridezilla, that’s also another negative word that gets passed around from vendor to vendor. Most of the time, if you listen closely to the vendor telling a story about a bridezilla, you can tell that the bride was not happy with his service.
To me a bridezilla is bride who did not get what she paid for or what she expected. The wedding vendor did not meet her needs or expectations.
How can you do a wedding with that type of mentality week after week? After a while, I’m sure it’s so repetitive for some of these vendors, that they begin to forget that weddings are a celebration of a couple’s Love for each other.
I’m not saying that wedding vendors should let their hand be bent so far back that it breaks, but if something is misunderstood, or there is some kind of mis-communication between the bride and the vendor. Then things need to be explained in an apologetic, kind manner. Not in the, you-should’ve-known-matter-of-fact tone that a lot of vendors use. There are vendors that actually get mad and upset because their brides don’t understand exactly what they are paying for. It happens all the time. Who’s fault is it that the bride does not understand what she is paying for and what she needs to pay additional for?
In order to help brides celebrate their Love, their special day, the day they will remember for the rest of their lives, wedding vendors must, first love their brides and their families. It’s annoying to hear other DJ’s or other wedding vendors call their passionate brides; brideszillas, B-word brides, terrible headaches, etc… They are emotional human beings who want and expect the best, the day of their wedding.
If you, the bride, don’t feel loved, respected, or appreciated from your wedding vendor, you should demand it and expect it. You shouldn’t have to ask for it because a real wedding professional knows and understands that good customer service means to love your customer and to be of service to your customers.
Happy Planning!

As stated on my previous post, there were two major events going on at the beginning of this week.
This was a very interesting week as far as learning and teaching goes. Learning the role of Master of Ceremonies was great. There were many things that were new and others that were strengthened. It’s great to have a mentor, a person who can guide and direct you on your profession. I would recommend that class to anyone that is interested in public speaking or in performing the role of MC, not just in weddings, but in any ceremony.
The Premier Bride Presentation was also pretty successful. I was able to talk about online marketing and it seemed that for the most part the attendees were very interested in Blogging and in Building and maintaining an email list. As a result, I started a new blog called Bloggin’ForWeddingVendors.com. Here is a link to the outline I used in that presentation:

Well I’m excited, next week, the first week of April 2008 is full of fun activities for us DJ’s.
Sunday and Monday Mark & Rebecca Ferrell will be coming down from Houston to present us with their Master of Ceremonies Workshop which I signed up to right as soon as I found out they were coming to Houston.
I’ve previously taken their Love Story Workshop last time they brought it down to Houston and just absolutely loved them and their material.
This time they cover how to effectively perform the role of the Master of Ceremonies, which we all could use some help in. I don’t think I’ve met a DJ that posses both; Great DJing skills and Great Microphone presence. But that’s just me.
Also next week we have the workshop that will be give by Jennifer Schafer of Premiere Bride Magazine. This will help a lot of business owners, not just DJ’s. It will be for all; Photographers, Video, Linens, Ballroom / Reception Hall owners, Florists, and all. It will cover Off-line marketing and Online marketing.
I will be conducting the Online portion of the Presentation and I will cover; How to attract website traffic, website usability, and list building and management.
I’m very excited about next week! I will be learning and teaching a lot!
Happy Planning!!

Today I just wanted to share a little about my online success. As you probably know, my website ranks extremely high in all the major search engines for a lot of search terms related to the Houston wedding industry. I have a #1 ranking for a lot of targeted keywords in Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
Last week, I met with my good friend Jennifer Schafer of Premiere Brides Magazine, who will be conducting a breakfast brunch presentation on “How to Build a Better Business Online,” and we discussed the differences between online marketing and off line marketing. Our conversation was so intense and full of idea sharing that 2 hours went by as if it was only 5 minutes and we covered a whole lot, some things we agreed on, some things we had our differences, but nevertheless it was very informative and I learned a lot from her about off-line marketing.
It was one of those meetings where one idea flares an idea on the other person’s mind. And this went on back and forth all the time. We could have gone on another 2 hours and still not run out of things to share with each other. It was a great meeting.
What we brainstormed that day will all be presented on April 1st, 2008 at 10:00 am in the Premier Bride Office located at
3730 Kirby Dr., Houston, TX 77098
in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
I will cover 3 Major topics:
All ideas and numbers will be coming from all the metrics and success of this website. And they will be geared to help other Businesses owners achieve the same success, through their website.
Marketing is as simple as getting people to your website, getting them to take an action, and staying in contact with them until they become your customer. Of course I’d advise you to keep in contact with them even after they become your customer as they can be key in generating more customers for you, through word of mouth.
If you are interested in attending this brunch, RSVP by sending an email to bethere {at} premierbride.com
