The Your Vibes Podcast is hosted by Michael Shepard of Dickson and features a series of episodes in which Shepard sits down and “swings” with people from all walks of life but who are connected to Dickson County. They discuss life’s unique journey, current events, leadership, business, spirituality, hopes for the future, and more.
Her Vibes podcast is focused on giving Dickson County’s creators, who aren’t necessarily always in the spotlight, a chance to share their story on a public platform. Whether it’s a story about a new business, facts from the past, or discussions about current events, the core of the podcast is not to have top-level conversations with people. It’s about bringing out the deep, meaningful, and inspiring parts of their story that help bring hope to others.
“Dickson has a lot of cool people, and it’s a downside to the community that those people don’t always shed light on their stories,” says Shepard. “I want to help ensure that these stories are heard and known for now and for years to come.”
While some guests on the podcast are well known in the community and others are not, each episode hosts someone who is unique and has no limits on who they are, what they do, or how they ended up in Dickson County. Past shows included Zimbabwean Archie Marowa telling a story about his trip to Dickson from across the seas. Warren Ashworth, a world-famous downtown business owner who made his way from California to Charlotte; and Dickson’s mother dog, Kelli Thomas, who shared how her love for pets helps her community.
While every story is different, they all have one thing in common: Dickson County. With his podcast, Shepard aims to bring light and awareness to the history, novelty and hidden gems that need not be sought in the world’s greatest cities, but can be found right in the heart of every town in Dickson District.
“My goal is to meet every town in the county and find the people who have stories that other people should know about,” says Shepard. “I enjoy having a good time with people and making them feel good about themselves, and I hope that the same feeling is shared with others through my podcast.”
New episodes of Your Vibes Podcast air at least once a week and can be listened to on multiple platforms including Anchor, Spotify, and YouTube, to name a few.
Shepard is from Nashville. Shepard has lived in Dickson County since 2012. He loves and loves Dickson’s close community and looks forward to the future of the entire county. Shepard is currently the Business Development Director at Dickson Insurance. He also runs Trivia Night every Thursday at Furnace Brewing in downtown Dickson, is a wedding DJ in his spare time, and is heavily involved with many different community nonprofits and organizations.
