It’s been over 3 years since I’ve taken a vacation from my DJ work.<\/p>\n

By vacations I mean to actually take my family somewhere and enjoy some valuable time with my wife and my daughters. We do go places, but it’s around here, in Houston. It usually is only for a day or so and then I have to get back to the regular routine of DJing which is; Answer emails, Answer telephone calls, write to my blogs, update my websites, meet with brides, get ready for the upcoming wedding, and so on.<\/p>\n

I also take one weekend out of every month and don’t book anything, that’s also something I’ve promised my wife. That may have to change, but for now, I don’t book anything, even if my best friend and DJ thinks I’m stupid for doing that. I don’t care, family comes first.<\/p>\n

This Year I took my family on a looong drive into Mexico.<\/p>\n

Our trip started on Wednesday, June 25th. First stop was Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. A beautiful city where my wife and her family are from. Going into Mexico we just went to rest and to visit her parents (They live in Houston but they were there visiting as well). We arrived there at about 6:00 PM (About an 8 Hour Drive) and there really was no time to do anything but hang out with her parents and go to sleep. I went to sleep early and actually woke up with a terrible eye infection so I could not use my contacts for the rest of the trip.<\/p>\n

The Next day, we left Monterrey and made our way to Nochistlan, Zacatecas, Mexico, where my family and I are from. This was my wife’s first trip into our small town and so was my daughters. This portion of the trip takes anywhere from 8-10 Hours. Since we got semi-lost, it took us the full 10 hours. We drove through, Saltillo, Zacatecas, and Aguascalientes. Right after Aguascalientes, was the exit from the main Highway into our small town.<\/p>\n

Since it’s such a long drive, I don’t get to visit often, but when I do, I find it to be the most relaxing time of my life.<\/p>\n

I actually went there because one of my cousins was getting married on June 28th and he asked me to go DJ over there. For those of you who know this, the music over there is A LOT different than the music over here. Even if you like Spanish music, It’s still a lot different. I was a bit intimidated as well as a bit nervous but it all turned out really (surprisingly) good.<\/p>\n

Sunday, my another cousin celebrated her 15th birthday and I was also asked to provide the music, which I did.<\/p>\n

Monday, we were ready to return to Monterrey, to visit more of my wife’s family and go into the city shopping. It was all good except for one small scare. Nothing big, just some guy banging on a large piece of wood with wooden stick really hard, which made it sound A LOT like gunshots…<\/p>\n

After Monterrey, we headed back to the border and after we crossed over we headed to South Padre. Luckily we arrived at South Padre Island right before the 4th of July Weekend. So we avoided the rush of tourists who went out there to celebrate the 4th of July. We were looking for the relaxed atmosphere where we could be with our daughters and have them enjoy the beach and scenery.<\/p>\n

It was a vacation, but there was A LOT of driving on my part. I guess I really don’t mind the driving too much, and except for the irritated eye, due to wearing the contact while driving for hours, everything went well, we all returned well rested and ready to take on the world again and continue putting smiles, good music, and the typical complain, the only complaint I like to hear from the brides, at the end of the night of “I’m tired and ready to go!”<\/p>\n
