Noida:
A DJ was arrested for illegally playing “very loud music” after 10pm during a wedding reception in Noida, a senior official said Friday.
The roughly 20-year-old DJ Akash Shrivastava played the music in the community center of Sector 39 during the event on Thursday evening, the administration said.
“The administration and the police were on an inspection in public places when they reached the community center around noon, where music was being played at very high volume,” said Judge Shailendra Mishra.
One case was registered under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Act 2000 and Environment Protection Act 1986, he said in an official statement.
“The DJ was arrested and put in jail,” said the city magistrate.
The administration said it had informed other people in Noida who had booked the DJ, a resident of a New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, for events such as weddings and asked for their money back.
“Everyone who booked him for programs was notified and asked for a refund. Otherwise, legal action could be taken against the organizers of the event if the DJ performed that night,” he said.
Meanwhile, the father of the woman, whose wedding ceremony was held on Thursday evening in the Sector 39 Noida community center, said there were no problems with the wedding reception.
“We are not aware of the arrest. But the wedding went off without any problems with the ‘Bidaai’ this morning,” he told PTI.
