The Sussexes will celebrate their third wedding anniversary this week (May 19th) and it was revealed that they shared previously unknown details from their big day as part of their Spotify podcast series Archewell Audio back in December.
At the beginning of an episode, Prince Harry says, “As we all know, it’s been a YEAR. And we really want to honor the compassion and kindness that has helped so many people get through.”
Harry and Meghan then talk about their 2018 wedding anniversary, revealing that their wedding song was the positive and powerful track Amen, This Little Light of Mine by Etta James.
According to Harry, the couple chose the song as a reference to “the power we have within us to make this world a better place”. He described the track as “a song that means so much to us” while the Duchess said it played “while we were walking down the steps of the church”.
Megan continued, “It was the music we wanted to play when we started our lives together.” Then quoting Martin Luther King, she said, “As we all know, darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can …”
Prince Harry concluded by saying, “The message of this song is one that we appreciate so much.”
Harry and Meghan’s first dance at their wedding reception at Frogmore House was “I’m In Love,” by 1960s soul singer Wilson Pickett, according to Finding Freedom, a royal biography published last August.
The American soul singer is famous for many tracks including In the Midnight Hour, Mustang Sally and Funky Broadway.
