So many weddings have been postponed from 2020 and there is no doubt that plan changes have brought new surprises. But imagine if you invited a favorite country artist as an unexpected surprise on what might be a couple’s greatest day. Aspiring country artist Adam Doleac did just that when he stopped by a couple to perform his heartfelt song “Another” as part of their first dance.

The video shared on TikTok made a huge impact on people and generated thousands of views. And rightly so, because the song itself is so cute. Another, written by Adam Doleac, Trannie Anderson and Kyle Jacobs, is about finding that special someone and not wanting or needing anything else. Doleac re-released a wedding version of “Another” after realizing how the original track quickly became a fan favorite and landed in the top 15 of SiriusXM’s The Highway.

The accompanying video for “Another” recently premiered and is a continuation of a love story that began with Doleac’s video for “Whiskey’s Fine”. The clip for “Whiskey’s Fine” shows a fictional couple who were forced to separate because of the Second World War. Doleac, who stars in both videos, ends up leaving his house dressed in army clothing. The second video focuses on the couple reuniting. Selected parts of the video also show footage of the spouses in their older years to show viewers that the two lovebirds could actually grow old together.

“For me, a video is a new way for a fan to hear a song. I never want it to be exactly how you want it to be, ”Doleac said in a press release on both clips. “When I decided to go from just one video to two videos and record both ‘Another’ and ‘Whiskey’s Fine’, I had to let my imagination run wild. I think the videos tell the story of these two songs better than I ever could and give both of them a new life. I can’t wait for everyone to see them together. “

Doleac recently caught up with Country Now to talk about “Another” and “Whiskey’s Fine” and how both songs have affected listeners everywhere.

What is the inspiration for your song “Another”?

Meet the right person [is what] inspired “Another”. I feel like I’ve always been hardwired to want something different from what I’m experiencing – even more, be it a drink or a song or a night or a kiss. The idea of ??meeting someone who made me feel like I never want anything else unless you are there fascinated me. It says a lot about how special someone is and I think that’s what people feel when they hear this song and a big reason why it has become such a great first dance wedding song.

What does the song mean to you?

To me this song means forever. It means that I choose you from everyone else in the world. It means I’ve narrowed it down from seven billion people to one, and that’s you. Oh, and that’ll never change, by the way. I know it.

Why did you decide to release a wedding version of this song?

In all honesty, it happened because of my fans. I make music for them and I can make music because of them. After I released the song I could see pretty straight away that the fans were connected to this song in a very romantic way. I kept seeing it on social media and in wedding videos and first dances and I knew we had to do a wedding version of that song then. I would say that I still get 20 messages a week from couples asking what I need to show up, sing “Another” for their first dance, and surprise them personally. I’ve done that a couple of times in the past year. It was a special experience. It’s always an honor when someone asks me to be part of the most important day of their life.

How was it recording the wedding version of “Another”?

Recording the wedding version of ‘Another’ was so much fun! I love to take everything off to the bone. My producer Andy Skib and I got it on a piano and a voice. I also sang the voice again, which I don’t always do for an alternate version of a song, but I felt that it needed a softer voice than the original track. Once we got that, we did something I’ve always wanted to do. We added a five-part string section to the song, and from the first notes I heard it play, I knew it was going to be special. In my opinion, that took this wedding version of ‘Another’ to the next level.

You surprised a married couple with this song at their wedding. Can you tell us the story behind it?

I get requests to do things like this quite often. However, we usually play over 100 shows a year and I always have to respond by saying something like, “I wish I could be there to do this for you, but we’re on the way.” With Covid-19 last year, even though there were so many negatives, the silver lining was that my schedule was suddenly wide open. After I released ‘Another’ I got more requests and messages from fans asking me to do a surprise performance at their wedding than I had ever gotten for a song before. One day I just said, “Let’s do some of these.” It starts as easy as a message in my inbox on Instagram. I haven’t been able to do all of them but it has been a blessing to have them and be part of that experience over the past year. I look forward to doing more. I’m not going to lie after seeing some of the reactions when they realized what was happening I almost cried a couple of times!

How do you feel when your song is such a great part of a couple’s life story?

It’s one of the biggest awards you can get as a singer / songwriter I think. Buying a ticket to a show is one thing, but asking someone you don’t even know is part of the most important day of your life is another. It means when they heard this song they felt strong enough to make it the soundtrack for such a special day. That’s why I do what I do and I am so happy to do it.

How about “Whiskey’s Fine”? What is the inspiration behind this song?

‘Whiskey’s Fine’ is a game with the expression: “Come in, the water is good.” The song speaks lyrically for itself. It’s 2:00 a.m. and two drinks, and we all know what happens if that’s the conditions, right? But stylistically, I fell in love with her. I like to tell people that my “Mississippi” comes out in that voice. It just had the right amount of country, blues and soul. It is and probably always will be one of my favorite songs next on the setlist. It’s the first song I came out as an artist, and it was my introduction to Nashville. Who knows what would have happened if it hadn’t been a success, but it was, and it’s a big reason I was lucky enough to get where I am today. PS It gave me free whiskey too!

Do you have any other projects to work on that you can share with us?

Yes! I’ll have the theme song for ESPN and the College World Series this year! It’s called “Key To The City” and I couldn’t be more excited. As a retired baseball player and someone who got to play in the College World Series myself, it’s a moment when I come full circle.

What standards have you set for your career this year?

A number one on country radio is sure to be something I shoot for and a full length record. I think musically there are several sides that as a new artist I haven’t been able to show and I’m looking forward to doing that with a full length album.

What has been the greatest highlight of your musical journey so far?

This is such a difficult question that I don’t think I can choose one thing. From a publishing contract to a cut as a songwriter to the release of music as an artist, to the gold medal, stepping on stage in front of thousands of people, signing a record deal to listening to the radio to play the Grand Ole Opry, I mean, I could go on for days because these experiences are all so cool! The trip is the coolest thing I can do! [I am grateful for] The people I can work with and the artists I can work with and the fans I can meet and make along the way. I’ve been in Nashville for almost nine years now, and I like to describe it as multiple “no” and small “yes”. It’s a lot harder than it is easy and it’s more no than it is yes, but I can do something I love to do and it’s the best job in the world.

Are you optimistic about touring in 2021?

I am. At this point we could already play a few shows and it was ELECTRIC! People itch to be out there again, both artists and fans. It will probably be until fall to get there, but I think it will come back and be better than ever.

Should fans expect a full-length album from you this year?

I would say yes. If not this year, it will be early 2022.

What should fans expect from you next?

Very soon there will be new music on the way and maybe a few more up-tempo things for this summer. Maybe even working with one of them. We will see.
