Monogram Designs in Houston

Last year, in July, I wrote an article about Gobo Designs to inform you, my readers, about Gobos and Monograms as well as to provide a few ideas to help you get started in the design of your own Monogram, if you wanted to do it on your own.

What is a Monogram?

A Monogram is not the same thing as a Gobo, however,  a Monogram can be used in a Gobo.

Sounds confusing? Well let me see if I can clear it up a bit.

A Monogram is the actual design that you use for your wedding.

A Gobo, is the metal plate that goes inside a special light, that is used to project your monogram.

Clear as Mud? 🙂 Good!

Why another Post on Monogram Design?

Well I’m glad you asked, we have been designing Monograms for our brides since of Late ’08 (Rhymes.. lol… Sorry I’m easily amused.) As I mentioned in the introduction to this post, in July of last year I did a blog post with a compilation of most of the Monograms that I had designed up to that point. To be honest, my main goal was to rank high on the search engines for Gobo Designers in Houston in Google and the other Search engines.

Well That worked extremely, extremely well… I was able to expand my business and offer the Monograms to some of the brides whom already had a DJ and even up lighting and all they wanted was to have their Monogram displayed at their event.

Anyway, this post was inspired by a call I got today from a bride who all she wanted was for me to help her design her monogram… I am more than glad to be able to help her and what she does with her monogram after we get it designed, then that’s up to her… So thank you for calling Michelle! 🙂

To our readers:

Whether you are a Bride researching Monograms, a Quinceanera looking for something different for your event, a birthday guy/gal looking for a way to put your stamp on your party, or another DJ trying to get into the whole Monogram Design world, feel free to be inspired by our designs and come up with your own!

So to continue with the last post on Gobo Design, I will put a few more of the Elegante Entertainment’s Monogram Designs for the second part of 2009 and the early part of 2010.

And if you can tell, there was one Monogram in particular that has been very popular… I really surprised myself, most people who call me ask if I can do that design for their event… If you are in the market for someone to design your Monogram, feel free to shoot as an email or give us a call!

Finally a Weekend off With the Family

This year has been a very different year for me. Despite taking off the first month and a half, January and February, I’ve been seen a huge rise in inquiries coming through my website.

I don’t advertise in any magazine or publication, I do have an ad in the Knot.com, but all my web traffic comes from either Google.com, Yahoo.com, or the new Bing.com. I haven’t paid for printed advertising in over a year, I’ve stopped attending the Houston Bridal Extravaganza Show, and have really not spent any money in advertising for a while now.

I continue t0 advertise with the Knot.com, one because they did not listen to my request to cancel my subscription, and two because their advertising is actually working to drive approximately 30 visitors to my site per month.

Despite the economy being so bad and Me taking a whole month and a half off to do some much needed home remodeling/upgrades, I would say business is doing better than last year.

I’ve been completely booked all year since Valentine’s day and if it wasn’t for a cancellation this past Saturday, I would have had to celebrate my daughter’s birthday on a Sunday.

So this weekend was very relaxing at home with the family and invited some friends to come over and celebrate my oldest daughter’s 6th birthday.  Would you believe it? No loud music was involved. 🙂

We had a blast! We rented out one of those water slide moonwalks and all the kids loved it. They did not stop playing in it the entire time we had it rented. Since they arrived early, even I was able to jump in there and have some fun with my two girls! Those times are so few in my life that I was able to really take them in and be grateful to God for such beautiful girls and for such an opportunity to be able to spend a Saturday with the people whom we love.

This Friday and Saturday, it’s back to weddings. I have two weddings, back to back and I look foreword to entertaining and creating beautiful smiles on the guests of my clients!

Happy Planning!

Thoughts on life..

It’s been a while since I express myself here on my blog… After all this blog is about me, Francisco H. Perez, or Simply Frank…

At first when I started my website, I knew that blogging was the only way I could achieve what I wanted to achieve… A great online presence, a way for my business to grow exponentially, and be able to us the blog as a tool for me to learn more about myself. More than anything, I knew that I had a big limitation, and that was anything related to the English Language: Reading, Speaking, Writing, Talking, Networking, etc…

With time I’m realizing that those limitations are not really external limitations, but internal limitations.

More than anything, me not believing 100% in myself.

As I found out with time, I was able to achieve my goals. I am now ranked so high in Google, Yahoo, and MSN that I really do not need to spend any money on adverting… How great is that?

Now, there was the time when I remember thinking “oh man, this is never going to pay off,” or “why do I even bother, this is impossible,” and even… “I am doing it all wrong!”

I wanted to pull out all my hair, curse at the computer, and had all these negative emotions that would cause me to feel like giving up, throwing all that hard work away and doing something else, like computer programming or something along the lines of what I was built to do…

Then I thought about it… I do not want to sit behind a computer all my life write meaningless code, it’s easy for me, it comes pretty natural.. but at the same time,  it bores me easily.. and it’s just not what I want to do for the rest of my life… I want my life to have meaning, to help people, to be always learning, to put smiles on people’s faces, to be with people on their happiest days of their lives… A wedding DJ was definitely what I wanted to do…

So I decided I had to make it work, there was NO STOPPING ME! Nothing, absolutely nothing, was going to stop me…

So here I am, a little over 3 years since I first started blogging, having another one of those life changing moments.

See 3 years ago, blogging was only a thing that nerds did, which I guess I am proud to say I am. Blogs were seen as something too new to try… now everyone has a blog and more and more people are using them to build a business… so it’s harder to become a successful blogger (depending on how you define success). Some people even saw, and even today still see blogs as unprofessional, unethical, or even un-businesslike.

So why am I inspired to write today?

Today I started listening to Ron White’s “How to Develop the Mind of Einstein.”

It is very inspirational and motivational… It truly has made me want to be great at what I do… to do what’s in my heart’s desire… pretty much the same feeling I felt 3 years ago when I was struggling with getting the business up and running.

I guess the only difference being that now I have an established presence, both on the web and throughout Houston.

So today I vow and will start to strive to 150% to understanding my clients needs, giving them greatness, and making each and every one of them say…”WOW….” I want to be the absolute best and greatest wedding DJ in the Houston area. It may sound corny, it may sound impossible, and it may sound like it’s not worth the effort… but I feel so motivated by those CD’s, I think… why not… why just do good things when you can strive to do great things for your guests and clients… and I will…

Today is the first day of greatness!!!

Happy Planning!
