Very well, bad example and I make an apology to everyone reading this after getting nightmares about me in that state of drunken stupor.

But what’s really attention grabbing is that how do human beings go through the usual part of life when faced with vein-popping stress? I mean, the new age thing like Zen or yoga is one of the good things and it truly works. Is there room for the intellectual side of folks who can truly smell the roses-in-a-can while on the move? It kind of had me thinking that there really must be something in this ‘mind-over-matter’ thing.

Humor is indeed the best medicine there is whenever you are. I mean anyone can pay good money to listen to a comedian just to make you wet your pants after laughing so hard. Despite of what’s been happening, and to those who has gone though the ordeal, it’s better to just laugh while facing the troubles with a clear mind than anger with a clouded vision. One of my favorite celebrities of all time may have to be Woody Allen. Now this is one guy who gives you the in-your-face bluntness that he pulls out with gusto, even without even trying. You can talk just about anything with a man, and he’s bound to mock the subject and you’ll end up laughing rather than being upset about it.

Woody Allen has this to say:

1. “Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.” It sounds good to me, I mean the practicality of all things does involve money but it doesn’t have to take an arm and a leg to get it.

2. “I believe there is something out there watching us. Unfortunately, it’s the government.” ‘Nuff said.

3. “There are worse things in life than death. Have you ever spent an evening with an insurance salesman?” This happens to be one of the classic ones. I mean the issue about life’s little problems isn’t all that bad, until ‘he’ shows up.

Sure, relationships can get complicated, or does have its complications that probably any author about relationships is bound to discover it soon. We follow what our heart desires, unless you’re talking about the heart as in the heart that pump blood throughout your body.

4. “Love is the answer, but while you’re waiting for the answer, sex raises some pretty attention grabbing questions.” And if you want more, just keep on asking!

5. “A fast word about oral contraception. I asked a girl to go to bed with me, she said ‘no’.” It sounds, ‘practical’, I think.

And when it comes to everyday life, he really knows how to make the best out of every possible scenario, and it doesn’t involve a lawsuit if he strikes a nerve.

6. “Basically my wife was immature. I’d be at home in the bath and she’d come in and sink my boats.” I never had a boat in my bathtub before. Just staring at it while soaking in hot water makes me seasick already.

7. “I am not afraid of death, I just don’t want to be there when it happens.” If it rains, it pours.

8. “I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose.” It could get worse when you’re guzzling on beer? or mouthwash, and it happened to me once!

9. “If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.” At least he doesn’t smite us with lightning, and I’m thankful for that.

And despite of what may happen to all of us in the next ten, twenty, or even thirty years, I guess we all have to see things in a different kind of light and not just perspective. I can’t seem to imagine life without any piece of wisdom that could guide us. Whether we’re religious or not, it takes more courage to accept your fears and learn how to deal with them is all that matters when it comes to even just getting along.

And to sum things up, here is the last nugget of wisdom to go by? however, whenever, and wherever we may be.

10. “The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don’t have.”

The only time in human history when there was a true theocracy of the true God, was at the time of Joshua. At the present rate of taxation and price gouging, the middle class will soon cease to exist.

He will be replaced by the person referred to as the willful king (Daniel 11:20-21), who will come into power peaceably by using flatteries. The word ?flatteries? is from the Hebrew word ?chalaqlaqqah?, meaning flattery, slipperiness, fine promises, and smoothness.

The willful king will continue to corrupt people through flatteries, but those who know God will be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32). The two witnesses in Jerusalem will be divinely protected for three and a half years (Revelation chapter 11); the willful king will fortify himself in the place of safety (Daniel 11:39) because he will become the object of hate, but he will eventually come to his end (verse 45).

Today I want to write about something, not really related to weddings, but more about website usability. I try to design my website(s) to meet certain objectives. Objectives that I think are important as they will achieve the purpose of my website.

That’s a lot of talk for simply saying; My websites are created with a purpose and with the end user/customer/bride in mind.

So what are 3 of the many objectives IÂ have?

The Website Should Load Fast
The Website should answer some of the common questions brides/users may have
The website should be easy to operate/navigate

All three were analyzed when I started creating my website and put through some brainstorming to find the best way to achieve those, and many more objects, or goals. Besides, these are objectives that you would think people would have enough common sense to realize the purpose of a website.

1. Your Website Should Load Fast

Let me ask you something, do you really have time to wait for over 60 boring seconds of the words “LOADING” flashing in your screen? If you do wait for that long, don’t you want to see something mind boggling, something different, something unique, something you have never seen or experienced before? Waiting builds anticipation, so if you make someone wait that long, it better be something amazing… not something that we’ve all seen before.

Besides, these are the times of fast, expedient, easy, and quick. Nobody is going to sit there and wait long for a website to load. They just assume it doesn’t work and move on to the next one.

Common sense should tell you that and you would be surprised how many people load their front page with thousands of images and useless junk that you, the user or bride, really don’t care for.Â Don’t get me wrong, I think images and flash are important, but they are best used to supplement a point, or even to showcase some of your favorite work.

The first page should load as fast as possible, then if you want to interest your users on a lot of images, clearly label a link on the menu that says, gallery, pictures or something where the user understands that if he or she clicks on that link, she will need more than a few seconds of her time. Even then, there should be fast-loading thumbnails of the pictures so that he/ she can browse through all of them and only magnify the ones they want to see… Now doesn’t that make sense and doesn’t that sound like a better user experience? I believe in giving users options, but not to many that may confuse them.

The Website Should Answer Common Questions

The internet is know as the “Information Super Highway” for a reason. People are looking for information. A picture is worth a thousand words, but can you really communicate what you need with pictures? Hmm… Maybe, but you have to be a great, amazing, one-of-a-kind artist to be able to pull that off. Or you could be lazy and just put your favorite pictures on the website and HOPE your users understand what you are trying to say.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but the user selects the words, not the website designer.

The best way to communicate with your user or bride, is to tell them directly (with words, a video, audio or plain text) what you want them to know about your business or services. Again, doesn’t that sound like common sense? Now, I know it takes more time to sit there, think about some of the things your users might be looking for, and address those concerns in a tactful manner. I know, I do it and it takes time, but it is worth the investment.

They are on your website to, at the comfort of their own home, workplace, or time, find out about your services; to see if what you have to offer is what they are looking for. To carefully consider everything you can do for them without you being there to pressure them into a decision they may regret. That’s freedom, who doesn’t want that?

The Website Should be Easy to Operate/Navigate

One of my pet peeves is confusion. I hate being confuse. I refuse to make a decision if I do not understand what I am making a decision on. I hate not being able to go to the main page at any given point. I hat not knowing where I am, inside a website. It’s annoying and it makes me want to leave the website and find another one. There really is not much to say about this. That is very common sense.

Along with navigation, you have to let your users operate your website. Most people don’t use any search features of a website, but for the few that want to, I think it’s important to provide that. Or if they want to contact you, allow them the ease of providing your email address where they can copy and paste it or simply click on it to open your email program. Additionally, you want to add a contact form so that they can quickly contact you about your services.

Conclusion

This article was inspired after searching around the internet for my local competition of Wedding DJs in Houston. Nobody has a perfect website, my own website has many flaws, but some of the ones I found, you literally had to sit there around 5 minutes for the website to load (I am on a T2, business internet connection, it’s ‘hella-fast’) only to be dissapointed in what I saw (pictures), some copied the exact text from other websites, some were confusing to use, some had links to pages that didn’t exist, some came up on the search engines and landed on old pages that had been removed, some had no information to offer the brides/users, some had grammar errors, … and so on.

Common sense things that should be avoided at any cost, especially if you are going to portray your business as a Professional Service.

I even moved on to other wedding professionals in houston and it’s just amazing what people throw up and think they have their website covered.

The first thing anybody and everybody should understand that a website, for the most part, is a marketing tool, it’s a representation of you, your products or services, and should be done properly to help you sell your products and services.

Good Things Lead to Good Things

Ok, so we know that is the case. If you do good things you will be rewarded with good things. Sometimes immediately, sometimes days, weeks, months, or years down the road. The same goes for the opposite but we want to focus on the positive.

My personality is that I am a bit on the shy side, however, I am confident enough in what I know and do that brides can pick that up and sense it. I am not an overpowering salesman, I am not an outgoing charming talkative guy. I try to understand EXACTLY what you want and expect from me as your DJ, and I give you what you want and then try to go over the top to keep you overly happy. I’ve always been told that I don’t have the outgoing personality of a DJ, or that I don’t look like a DJ (or their image of a DJ) but I still get booked, how crazy is that? LOL

When high school friends find out that I am a DJ, they are astonished. How can that tall skinny boy who almost never talked, like to be in front of the crowd making announcements, playing music and keeping people dancing? LOL.

I’ve always loved music, I’ve always loved dancing, both go hand in hand and they are my passion, and to some extent my calling in life. I also love to help out and give, more than what is expected.

Some things have come naturally to me, in life; Math, Tests, and wanting to give. Some don’t. Dancing, Public Speaking, making new friends, Reading or Writing. I’ve chosen to take the challenge to become a better person, a well rounded person. To be able to say, although I was not gifted with the natural ability to; Talk in public (i was TERRIFIED with all caps), reach to new people and find common interest, write, or read, I can learn the skills necessary to feel comfortable doing anything. I have.

I am a successful Bilingual Wedding DJ and I’ve taken the responsibility giving to brides exactly what they wanted and then some. I take the responsibility of making sure that EVERYONE is well aware of what is going on, that everyone gets a chance to dance to something they may like, and that everyone knows where the beginning, middle and end of the wedding reception are. I make it my job, my passion to do that and I love doing it.

I don’t over promise, I over deliver.

So today I feel grateful for all those people that I have influenced in a positive way and were grateful enough to take the time and write some positive things about me. I am also grateful of those who don’t do it publicly.

I got a referral from one of the websites that I have my information on, so I traced it back, to see what the website was and what I put on there. I was surprised to see 2 reviews about me. 2 that I had never even imagined would be there. So it was a very positive surprise and just set the tone for the rest of the, day, hell maybe even the rest of the month! I am so happy and excited right now, I could jump off a building just to top that feeling (I’m not, cuz it would hurt when I land).

Francisco acted as MC and had a DJ. The played awsome music! He is bilingual which was great to make the few guests from Mexico and Grandma feel welcome. He was very organized (much more than me!) He was attentive to guest activity and had every request. Their equipment seemed new and sounded great!

Francisco was awesome. He seems a little shy when you meet him which is wierd for a DJ BUT he rocked it at my wedding. he did exactly what he needed to do. I told him I wanted to it to be hard for people to sit down because they love every song that is played. That is what happened. At one point we had 2 dance floors. Dont ask me how that happened but it did. He really made ti a party . yay.

Both weddings I remember and well, as you can see being shy does not stop you from doing a great Job DJin or MCing, or anything really. On the contrary, it makes me want to work harder at what I know I HAVE to work harder, in order to do a good job. If you’ve ever tried to translate anything from Spanish to English, on the fly, you understand how hard it is, especially since the Spanish and English structure is completely different.
