Love

We are in the business of Love, not in the business of Music or Entertainment…

When two people meet for the first time many things go through their minds. One particular action that passes through the mind is an evaluation as to what type of relationship they may have with the person in front of them. Often, there is no connection and they establish a type of acquaintance , the rest of the time, a great conversation is reached, which leads into a friendship. That great friendship sometimes leads into a great feeling between two people, which we all know as LOVE.

That love leads those two into the game of a Loving relationship, which some times may not be so loving… but they manage to stick together through thick and thin and come out at the next step, which is a decision to unite with that person for the rest of their life. Traditionally, that implied a wedding celebration. Nowadays, it can also mean the decision between two people to spend the rest of their lives together without the need of  the celebration.

The wedding is now a term used to specify an industry and often you hear the phrase, “the wedding industry” which to me strips all value of what it actually is… a celebration of love.

Love seems to have lost it’s appeal to people… but those whom experience know that it’s the most wonderful feeling in the world, whether it’s with family, children, friends, or most important of all, with the person you have chosen to share your love with because they make you feel wonderful.

How is it that a wedding nowadays is more about money than about love.

To some people it’s important to spend over x amount of dollars if not, others will think that we don’t love each other… Or, we have to make sure we keep our wedding to x amount of dollars because if not we will feel like we overspent. Having said that, I am not saying that you should spend all your money just because you love someone, not at all, but sometimes the main focus is the money, and a lot of time is spent on how much money can we save just because I already made the decision to get married. If you don’t have the money to get married, don’t do it… or do a simple wedding where the guests are just those whom you love most.

The point is, the most important thing should not be the wedding, or the money, or how much you should save so you can look like you had an expensive wedding, but didn’t. The stress you go through and the money you spend is not worth it.

The most important thing should be how much you love the person you have in front of you and how that person makes you feel. There is no law, there is no obligation, there is no need to marry someone just because you feel like you have to do it.

For those who do decide to get married and hire professionals to work their wedding reception, you should also see that interest in those professionals… It may sound like that should be the case, but very often, as a wedding professional, I see that a lot of other wedding professionals, only go about their business concentrated on the money and nothing else. Others, forget that the main focus should be the bride and groom and not them.

I recently heard of a company that offers and upgraded package so that the vendors can be the highlight of the wedding reception and not the Bride and Groom…

That type of service is likely to fail, your guests are not going to your wedding reception to see a rock concert, or to see two djs battle it out, or to see who the dj is.. they usually go to support the fact that you found someone you are going to spend your entire life with…

It’s funny to see how easily other wedding professionals forget the reason for the wedding reception.

On the other hand, every once in a while, I run into the client that wants to nickel and dime every detail of the event… which is understandable… it’s normal, you go buy a car, and you try to negotiate the best possible price, the best possible interest rate and the best monthly payment that fits you.

Unfortunately, they do not realize that they are not buying a new car, they are getting a personalized service that was developed over the years from past experiences. Over the years I have learned that the DJ Profession is not about me, but about the bride and groom, and what I can do to make sure they are always highlighted and the center of attention. How can I show your guests how much you love each and how we come about to be there on that day?

What can we do so your wedding does not feel like Joe and Carry’s wedding? What can we do to show how why you chose the members of your bridal party? Does everyone at your wedding reception know your love story? How can we as entertainers highlight it?

So I will end, with what I started… We are in the business of Love, not in the business of Music or Entertainment…

We love our clients and are not ashamed to say it because we know how much they love each other…

Happy Planning!!

Having a Great Day

1216555_sunrise

Good (Chilly) Tuesday Morning to everyone,

Today I feel great, it’s been a hectic month with many events and with other projects that I have been working on. One Project was to build a Karaoke Jukebox. Well, two actually, and have them ready for a client in Ohio. It was a great experience and of course, a learning one like always.

Today I get a call from the client, and they are on their way to Houston to pick them up.

Weddings for March have been great, plenty of them to go around, then in April I am back to one wedding every weekend until the end of July… August is usually a slow month for me so I take the opportunity to take my girls out of town to get away from the normal life…

Today is a Lazy day for me, except for one appointment that could not happen yesterday, I have nothing else planned except taking my girls somewhere after they get out of school, anywhere, just in order for them to have fun.

I hope your wedding planning days are coming great!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!

Winter Themed Wedding Up Lighting by Elegante Entertainment

A few months ago we were called to design a Winter Wonderland Wedding Reception. The couple wanted to feel cool even if it was hot outside. Knowing the weather here in the Houston Area, (or in Rosenberg TX, where the wedding took place) it could have very easily been anywhere from 70 to 80 degrees outside, the day of the wedding reception.

We came up with a plan to wash all the walls and the ceiling in a blue that would resemble the cold and then to add some flake gobos on the walls to give it that feel of winter snow.

Below are some of the photos taken by a Non Professional Camera, so I apologize for the graininess of the photos.
