Tejano Music, what ever happened to it?

Tejano Music saw its biggest success in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s according to Tejano Music WikiPedia. It was played everywhere; homes, radio, cds, tapes and everywhere available at the time. There plenty of radio stations playing Tejano Music and plenty of eager listeners, waiting to enjoy the soulful sounds of the music. Then, as trends and styles changed, so did the popularity of Tejano Music. For those of us who enjoy Tejano Music, it is still very well alive and usually only available to us via CDs or Tapes. As a DJ, the majority of events that I play at, Tejano Music is very much requested, so social events is the other place where you would hear some good Tejano Songs. A big percentage (approx. 40%) of the parties I did this year (2006) were ones that primarily required the rich texas-style of music. Of course that can be broken down further to the people that wanted “Good Tejano Oldies” and the ones that wanted “The Good Tejano Songs.” If you are reading this and Love the Music, I think you can make out the difference. For the rest I will explain.

What is Tejano Music?

Well if by reading the names of the artists above, you still cannot identify tejano music, visit their websites, search for them on Google, Yahoo, or MSN, or Look for some good Tejano Online Radio Stations. Also the Tejano Music WikiPedia is a great source to find out general information about Tejano Music, Tejano History, and Recent Tejano developments. Although, for recent Tejano Development, I will probably be posting more on right here, since there is a lot going on, but it is not publicated on any “over the air” radio stations.

What is this you say about Online Radio Stations?

There are a few options for these. The one I have been listening to, for a long time now, is BnetRadio.com which is based out of Houston Texas. Then there is Batanga.com, Tejano Music on Live365.com, and also some of the “over the air” radio stations provide an online stream (more on that later). I occasionally visit BnetRadio.com and hang out with Anabelle, DJ Bliss, who is on from Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
